Small Changes Can Grow in to New Habits

Small Changes Can Grow in to New Habits

Habit is powerful and we are subject to good and less helpful patterns; lasting change is not forced but a gradually leaning in to and adoption of a new behaviour.

The first step is awareness, an honest appraisal and acknowledgement of the areas in your life which would benefit from re-evaluation:

Perhaps you feel energetically sluggish?
Perhaps you are wired and are struggling to switch off?
Perhaps hours of work sitting at a computer are causing you physical pain and creating postural changes?

A Few Ideas to Plant the seeds of change:

Take a short walk, free of devices and distractions simply tuning in to and noticing your environment.
Breathe slowly and stretch gently for 5 or 10 minutes focusing completely on the task.
Drink an extra 2 glasses of water per day.
Without distraction, sit and really listen to your partner and children for a given time.

Be creative and choose your own, based upon your initial appraisal and do it everyday for a few weeks. Be curious, measure the results and see what might grow from gentle but persistent effort.

Assistance from an objective outsider can be helpful to give perspective and motivation.

Good luck and be the change you would like to see!

Go well. Will
